I should drink before work,
It'll keep me from going beserk.
I'll have one to take the edge off.
Well, two just to be sure.
Perhaps three to cure my cough.
And then four to be hardcore.
The fifth drink is for motivation.
The sixth because my boss is a dick.
Seven to sooth my agitation,
And then eight to call in sick.
The ninth I'll have with dinner.
The tenth because wine won't keep.
The eleventh because I'm a sinner.
And finally the twelfth for a good night's sleep.

I Hate
I Hate
By Brian Looney
He really thinks he's something. A jar emptied of all reason and feeling. I see through his transparent identity and I laugh. My sneering laugh may be heard echoing in subconscious sublimity. My white teeth bared in a rictus of painful bitterness. His amoral idiocy springs from his bloated ego. Ever expanding, it will one day collapse and recede into the nothingness whence it sprung. Like the universe. Like all creation, all life, all and all. And all and all and all and all. He is nothing. A beast. A no-man. A being dead inside, beyond redemption, beyond hope, and whipped by innate fear. His burning psychosis leers at me when he opens his lifeless eyes, which is a rare thing for him to do, but at that moment, I can only feel pity.
What shell is this? What hollow, weak thing do I see? Not a human. A human is someone who has principles; who lives by them. This thing fucks principles away struggling through perpetually thick liquor haze fighting for comprehension and in the end losing that battle; that hunk of meat inside the skull by now in rapid decay from neglect as well as misuse. Hah. Hah. Yes.
Worthless, valueless, destructive, a self-inflicted mental handicap. A phony devoid of individuality, consumerized to the edges of insanity. Created by society and ignorant of the social question. Deserving of all my flustered pity. Remorseful, broken, and blissfully oblivious of it all. Tabula Rasa. Etched personality. What a horrible, unethical waste. Human decency is flushed down the porcelain throne of capitalism. I hate them, the flushers. I burn with rousing fire, but the rotten kindling are soaked with water. Then bleak despair sets in.
And I cry. My cry may be deciphered to all who listen, to all who reason. It is the epitome of poignancy. My martyr cry, My ascetic cry, My lunatic cry, My widow cry, My narcotic cry, My ghetto cry. I laugh whilst blood squeezes itself out of my sorrowfully open eyes and runs in jittering tributaries down my dirt-cake face, over the wrinkles of my synthetically frozen smile and into miniature Grand Canyons filling each consecutively until every valley, every basin, every depression, every pore overflows with reddish hell. The wounds society inflicts are irreversible, its condemnatory judgments kill. To the victor go the spoils they say. And the ravagers sift through my ashes for glitter. Devil spawned rapist Christians. Goldthirsty demons, all.
I Am No Poet
By Brian Looney
I am no poet.
Poets wear berets
And talk nonsense.
I am no poet.
Poets whip themselves into passion
And weep over the mundane.
I am no poet.
Poets enjoy reputation’s reflection
And fancy themselves.
I am no poet.
Poets hide in fantasy
And cannot feel the real.
I am no poet.
How to Pick Up a Chick
How to Pick Up a Chick
By Brian Looney
You gotta be suave, cool to pick up the real lookers. And I, Brian Looney, am about to unlock to you the one conversation which will get you women! (1)Approach the dame with erect posture. (2) Acquire and hold eye contact on the approach. (3) Smile with confidence as you near her. (4) Repeat the following block of text WORD FOR WORD:
"Excuse me miss, could you put on some more make-up? I can see your face. Right there, under your left cheekbone a patch of your real skin is showing. No, no, please don't thank me. I know how you girls care about your looks. The diligence with which y'all perform your morning rituals is something to be admired! Like how you wake up in the morning, power on your fluorescent lamps, and for three relentless hours you correct facial defects with the precision of a seasoned surgeon; though without his customary caution. However, you employ a brush rather than a scalpel. Scalpels are only used in very extreme cases, as your breasts and nose will testify. Ahh what artistic skill you have with the brush! Picasso could learn a thing or two from you. Yeah, just go ahead and fill in the cosmetic gap with crushed insects, processed fish scales, cerebrosides, or mica and you should be in good shape.
Oop one of your color contacts dropped on the floor! I'm guessing it goes on your mud brown left eye? The synthetic pearl blue of your right eye simply defies crass reality. Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears certainly do not have poopy irises. Our friendly fratties react to blue on cue. So just lodge that piece of dyed glass into the old eye and you'll be up to your exposed shoulders in drooling sycophants.
Nice acrylic nails, by the way. The glued tips are beautifully blended with your human nails. And the swelling redess caused by the acrylic resins is barely noticeable! Unless, of course, somebody decided to hold hands with you. You must have a "look but don't touch" policy. Like mannequins and other "just for show" displays. How delicate and artistic! Yes, you are queen of the universe.
Wait a second! Are those brown strands I see? Oh, your hair coloring must be washing out! We can't have natural hair now, can we? That would be disastrous! Mr. Hollister will never look at you unless you have shiny yellow hair. A dose of phenylenediamine should do the trick! But I sure hope you don't have an allergic reaction. I hope your hair doesn't become so dry and brittle that it all falls out. Short hair is attractive on some girls, but no hair would make you look like a bald Barbie doll. And everyone knows that Ken hates Bald Barbie.
Ahh I just love Halloween. You must really love it too, seeing as you celebrate it 365 days a year. See, most people dye their hair and paint their face on October 31, but your passion for disguise is so strong that you gleefully don your mask every day. In fact, you even appear more confident when it is on. I guess confidence is really all we need in life. Maybe you should never take your mask off? I think they can tattoo it on nowadays...modern technology and all. Well look at the time! I'm late as usual. Gotta go. What was your name again? Fukov? Sounds Russian! Allright, see you around, beautiful!"
Fly, Butterfly!
Fly, Butterfly!
By Brian Looney
Vindictive gasps, ceremonial clods
Bombard the pulsing caccoon,
Pollute the infant essence.
Decaying whispers
Are absorbed
By young and old.
Pricked ears tick.
Process commands.
In hypnotic repetition.
Eyes close
Heads slant upward.
Slack mouths dangle
Loosely.
Breathing intense faith.
So flutters
The innocent beauty
In graceless stagnation.
Officious crinkles
Crawl along
The taut, youthful faces.
Aging them.
Lips twitch.
Coercing tears
Willing devotion.
Torturous despair, ascetic piety
Fearfully forces
Its deceptive presence.
These blind needles
Pierce
Kaleidescopian wings.
In the distance a pale horse gallops.
Tramples, tramples,
Underfoot
A dewy, pinioned carcass.
Robed tradition
Sighs
In relief.
"We will endure."
Bourgeois Lawn
Bourgeois Lawn
By Brian Looney
Each day the aging man
Ventures from his aging house
To tend his aging yard.
Each day he bends his sour joints
To weed his sour garden.
He knows the weeds grow back overnight.
Yet he strives for unobtainable perfection,
Reflecting upon his imperfect life all the while.
He sees past loves, lost passions
In withering flower petals.
He ponders the spent possibilities
Of the unattainable past
As he unearths sleeping larvae.
His wrinkly body
Trembles
At Regret's icy jabs.
It waits to die.
It wants to die.
It strives to leave vapid greenery
And join the yellowed patch.
Behold, our lonely purposeless man.
His rheumatic hand creaks the valve on.
Out gushes an endless stream of gurgling fluid
Fertilizing his sickly children.
Are they vivacious?
He perceives the distant moan
Of an approaching vehicle.
A dark and nameless fear grips him.
By now the overwatered grass has turned to slush
And he crumples into hellish anticipation.
A hearse glides down the street
Carrying his body to its grave.

What They Don’t Tell You About the Bible.

-----------Romans 13-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Submission to the Authorities
"13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, 4 for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience. 6 For the same reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. 7 Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"For the sake of the Lord submit yourselves to every human authority: to the Emperor, who is the supreme authority, and to the governors, who have been appointed by him to punish the evildoers and to praise those who do good."

"He left them, and went out of the city to
lodged there. Now in the morning, as he returned to the city,
he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it,
and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it, "Let there be no
fruit from you forever!"
Immediately the fig tree withered away. When the disciples
saw it, they marveled, saying, "How did the fig tree immediately
wither away?""
"As the disciples walked past the fig tree the next morning, they noticed that it was completely dried up, roots and all. Peter remembered what Jesus had said to the tree. Then Peter said, "Teacher, look! The tree you put a curse on has dried up."
Jesus told his disciples:
Have faith in God! If you have faith in God and don't doubt, you can tell this mountain to get up and jump into the sea, and it will. Everything you ask for in prayer will be yours, if you only have faith. "
(Seems kind of ridiculous that Jesus would destroy a healthy fig tree simply because it has no fruit, then try to justify his actions later... I'm sure some Christians will try and liken the fig tree to humanity and God as the gardener. If that's the case, then the Gardener planted the fig tree and instead of fertilizing and watering it when it doesn't yield fruit, he kills it. That's how i see it anyway, if you want to get symbolic on me.)

-2 Samuel 5.8

"A man has no need to cover his head, because he reflects the image and glory of God. But woman reflects the glory of man; for man was not created from woman, but woman from man. Nor was man created for woman's sake, but woman was created for man's sake. On account of the angels, then, a woman should have a covering over her head to show that she is under her husband's authority."
-1 Corinthians 11.7-10
"It is a disgraceful thing for a woman to speak in a church meeting."
-1 Corinthians 14.35
"The basket had a lid made of lead. As I watched, the lid was raised, and there in the basket sat a woman! The angel said, 'This represents wickedness.' Then he pushed her down into the basket and put the lid back down. I looked up and saw two women flying toward me with powerful wings like those of a stork. They picked up the basket and flew off with it."
-Zechariah 5.7
(I find it hilarious how modern Christians just pick and choose what decrees they wish to follow. Corinthians IS from the New Testament. Shouldn't Christian women cover their heads in shame when they worship? Haha, the funniest thing in the world is a feminist Christian. Wouldn't you agree?)

"Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling; and do it with a sincere heart, as though you were serving Christ."

"THE LORD(to Job): Now stand up straight/ and answer my questions./ Are you trying to prove that I am/ unjust--/ to put me in the wrong and/ yourself in the right? Are you as strong as I am?/ Can your voice thunder as loud as mine? If so, stand up in your honor/ and pride;/ clothe yourself with majesty/ and glory."

-Job 42.2
"JOB: So I am ashamed of all I have/ said/ and repent in dust and ashes."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Everything that happens was already determined long ago, and we all know that you cannot argue with someone who is stronger than you."
-Ecclesiastes 6.10
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's what religion boils down to, people. At the very base, it is an insecurity in oneself. It is the need to rely on some divine power for assistance through the pressing obstacles of life. So basically, do I rely on my own strength or on the strength of some omnipotent entity? Christianity would have us believe that we are nothing without God and Christ. Absolutely nothing. We are weak and God is strong. We must thank God for every gratuitous occurance, any achievement: even if it has been accomplished based on our own individual labors and those of our fellow humans. God is everywhere, God is always watching you.
When you do something difficult like give a public speech, or tackle any other obstacle you feel insecure about, do you find safety in saying a prayer for your own well-being? Or are you strong enough to rely on yourself and your fellow humans only, and build your character up that way? Because when one believes a goal is accomplished by the grace of some abstract force rather than on personal effort, development is marred. How can a self-esteem be built when a person cannot even function without God's divine intervention? The surest way to control a person is to destroy his or her's self-esteem. Christianity teaches us to be ashamed. It actively seeks to destroy any trace of personal pride. All things come from God, you are a worm. Your primary function is to obey. Everything else is evil.
When i get done with a public speech, do i get down on my knees, thank God for success, and vow to pray and rely on God in the future? Or do I go over exactly what I did right, exactly what steps I took to conquer my fear? Which path is the healthier to my personal development? If God existed, wouldn't He be concerned with my personal development over his own jealous pride? Christianity would have you believe that we are clay and God is the sculptor. One of the frequent arguments in the Bible is that a sculptor has every right to do whatever he wishes to his sculpture for whatever reason. Just read Job because that story is probably the clearest exposition of this idea(though it is found everywhere in the Bible). We are property.
Do you remember when you believed in Santa Claus? How about the Tooth Fairy? The Easter Bunny? Try and think of something you once believed in, in the innocence of childhood. Why did you believe in Santa Claus? (a) Your parents told you that he existed. (b) It was fortuitous to believe in him. (c) You had no real reason to believe otherwise. (d) His existence is steeped in tradition, myth, bedtime stories. (e) Your friends were all believers.
Yet even when (c) became questionable and you began to doubt, the presents kept coming. Your parents, family, and popular society reinforced Santa Claus's existence. So you continued to believe until you grew older. Some authority figure had to sit you down and tell you that there is no Santa Claus, that the idea of a chubby jolly man squeezing his fat ass down all the narrow chimneys of the world is an absurd idea.
How is this any different than your faith in God and Christianity? In people like me sitting you down and using logical, critical analysis to demonstrate the absurdity of a fickle God who demands ignorance, unquestioning obediance, and cultural intolerance? Maintaining your faith is much easier, because the churches have divine authority on their side. By claiming to know all that goes on in the afterlife, they command a fear of the unknown. Cower at the fires of Hell, you of weak faith, you sinners!
Haha hey i've got a riddle for all you! Here it is:
THE QUESTION: What do you get when a low self-esteem and fear of the unknown are combined?
THE ANSWER: Mind-slaves! Woo hoo!
Another area of Christianity that i think needs to be addressed is the rich-poor relations. I am always told that Christianity shares my hatred of the propertied classes. To a certain extent this is true: "God chose the poor people of this world to be rich in faith and to possess the kingdom which he promised to those who love him. But you dishonor the poor! Who are the ones who oppress you and drag you before the judges? The rich! They are the ones who speak evil of that good name which has been given to you" (James 2.5-7) At first glance, this statement does seem to be true to life and justice. But notice how it alludes to a divine justice, a justice that will come about in the afterlife, rather than on earth: "Your life here on earth had been full of luxury and pleasure. You have made yourselves fat for the day of slaughter" (James 5.5). And yet the poor are encouraged not to revolt: "Don't criticize the king, even silently, and don't criticize the rich, even in the privacy of your bedroom"(Ecclesiastes 10.20), and "For the sake of the Lord submit yourselves to every human authority: to the Emperor, who is the supreme authority, and to the governors, who have been appointed by him to punish the evildoers and to praise those who do good"(1 Peter 2.13). Doesn't this, then, deter any kind of revolution? Doesn't it cripple any movement toward equality and advancement? Imagine that there is no afterlife, heaven, hell, or God. What then? The poor and oppressed are pacified because they are deluded into thinking that justice will come after death and only if they are peaceful, respectful, and obedient during life. In the meantime, the rich use them to get richer and become more and more powerful. Christianity, then, is nothing more than an elaborate means to control the toiling masses. It has always been used to consolidate wealth and power to the ruling elite of the time. It is a business, a monopoly, and a lucrative one at that.
I try to shake your faith because i believe religion is the worst institution on the planet with government coming in close second. It is a recipe to control the masses and nothing else. As Nietzsche once said, "Religion is a fraud but is necessary for the masses." Shakespeare and Socrates would have us believe that the mass of people are ignorant and fickle. I would have you believe that the masses, the "hoi polloi," are ignorant and fickle because every institution in society develops them toward that end. That is religion, government, education, and economics. The ruling elite create these institutions and, as we all know, their job has always been to remain in power. To do this, they must have a populace which actively depends on them. I'll end with what is perhaps the most well-known phrase regarding power: "Power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely(Lord Acton)."
Benign Gloom, Merciful Isolation
Benign Gloom, Merciful Isolation
By Brian Looney
When the expanse horizon slaughters the light of day and bathes the land with its shadowy blood; that is when I am truly free. I embrace the moonless night because it clouds perception and bestows the priceless gift of anonymity onto the public mind. By day I am hounded by bands of marauding pinpricks; contracted pupils which bore into my quivering flesh. You see, I can no longer withstand the profane glances of infantile cretins. And I will not allow them to uproot my sanctity. Their relentless siege will not breach my holy walls. By night I am sheltered in the bosom of divine privacy. Nothing can harm me then, and I am godlike. Thus, I vanish. I become an unseen essence, an invisible force.
I have climbed the highest peaks of reason, murked through the foggy recesses of a blundering insanity, swum through the perfumed pool of arousal and done battle with the hoary monster of love. I have shouldered the staggering weight of ecstasy, and I have fed off the selfish nutriments of depression. I have experienced the demoralizing failure of unrealized goals. I have dreamt of peace in times of war, of violence in times of harmony, of innocence in times of corruption, and of debauchery in times of virtue. I have watched hope's limbless figure worm through the spiteful streets in search of moldy bread. I have seen a cringing body, in the last throes of life, yield to Death's peaceful refuge, and in the same hour I witnessed the wailing, shaking terror of the newborn infant. I have experienced and I have seen, and I wish to see no more.
I chant of freedom, for sight is slavery. That uncontrollable overseer demands response. The briefest glimpse may monopolize the subconscious, dominate the imagination, and hound the emotions until the freest thinker is toppled into the depths of a self-less monomania. A distracted mother suckles a lusty infant within the bustling cacophony of the
Now the eyes of my hovel are blind, for I have sliced out their innards and filled their sagging sockets with planks of sturdy cedar. There are no bulbs in this flat. I have popped their smooth exteriors, reveling in the sudden release of pressure. Their mutilated flesh lies scattered about: a gruesome surprise for the shoeless interloper. The sun's hypocrisy no longer beats down my door. That churning sphere of liquid fire; that nauseous, gaseous heater of hell! Aten, Sol, Surya, Helios: they are all my enemies. I'll douse them in stormy torrents of sodium chloride and powdered graphite. Because I know that all things are noble when sheathed in merciful darkness. Because all things are free when judgmental light is quenched into tolerant and forgiving gloom. Because I can no longer stand the shallow responsibility of perception.
The lonesome crag stands supercilious in the night. It's invisible presence strikes the soul with trepidation. Human arrogance melts against its haughty crust, fleeing before its timeless presence. Yet creeping insects mount its hide and penetrate the virginal mass. They pump and plumb until they have sated their passion, and the Queen of Independence lies spent and violated. They cart the shining loot of their profit-rape back to smoggy centers where transient greed holds it in high esteem. The immortal Queen is left impure, bleeding auburn tears down her fondled bosom. But she stands proud and undaunted in her divine solitude. She spits in the judgmental eyes of ignominy. She is eternally scornful of the bejewelled businessman, the money counting banker, the laundering politician. She knows she will outlast them all.
Within the shadow of the Queen, only my metamorphosed form remains. I'll be here when humans have perished marching to time's awful drumbeat. I'll be here when the last letter of this chronicle wisps away on the winds of oblivion. I am a despairing depression threatened by an asphyxiating foundation of hardening concrete. I am a subtle slope where famished shovels feed, chomping into my benumbed flesh. I am a moralizing mound, doomed to eat the dung-filled treads of clomping army boots. I am a hardened hillock enduring a despicable siege, scratching for stamina. Painlessness is a thoughtless state of weakness. I embrace my pain and command the power of thought. My body grows, my might increases, my presence strengthens. I fortify my hapless soul against affliction's savage attacks. Yet the amorous wind breathes her whirling breath on my weary face, and swaying blades exult in the path of her pungent exhalation. I am not quite a mountain, but I flourish with tribulation.
At Your Church
At Your Church
By Brian Looney
I was there this sunny Sabbath
For the first time in a year.
I didn't go because I needed faith.
I went because I needed a laugh.
For the strong don't need faith.
The strong can always use a good laugh, though,
Because it's hard to be strong.
You probably don't know what I mean.
No matter.
Anyways, I was there.
They had a live band
Pu'raising the Lawd fer Vic'try.
People put their hands in the air
And squeezed their eyes shut.
Others sung along
In the spirit of holy hypocrisy.
Everybody was worshipping the intolerant Baby Killer
Found incarnate in the fascist spirit.
Like post-war Nazis who still have faith in Hitler.
They told me to rinse and repeat
But I refused.
I wouldn't make an offer
And I passed the brass dish.
They tried to plaster me with guilt,
Tried to hammer my head with rusty nails.
They sought to infect me with Lockjaw.
But I'm immune.
The savages starved me
And then ordered me to eat and drink
But I told them I was no cannibal.
Even if it was "shed for me"
I still wouldn't touch it.
Well, I did quaff their cheap wine
But it didn't get me drunk like I'd hoped.
The morsel I palmed like a skilled magician.
When nobody was looking,
I threw it on the ground
And stomped with my heel.
I wonder which of the pious will eat it?
After all, it was shed for them.
